War

Day 21

I search for the language
that is also yours
almost all our language has been taxed by war

Allen Ginsberg, Witchita Vortex Sutra

So many of the commonplace words and expressions we use have their origins in military language:

  • Hold the fort
  • Hit the mark
  • Bullet points
  • Rally the troops
  • Exercise
  • Campaign
  • Boot camp

What others can you think of? Can you think of creative alternatives for any of these, so we communicate more through  a language based on peace rather than war?
